The Central Coast Divers Semi-Closed Rebreather (SCR) Level 1 Program is your gateway into the future of diving.

This exciting course provides you with the skills and knowledge to safely plan and conduct semi-closed rebreather dives to 30 metres, using a modern SCR Total Diving System, alongside an equally or more qualified dive buddy. Whether you're looking to upgrade your skills, extend your comfort zone, or take the first step into high-tech diving, this program opens the door.

You’ll learn:

  • The essential theory and principles of semi-closed rebreather diving

  • How to choose and configure your SCR Total Diving System

  • How to plan and execute safe, enjoyable, bubble-free dives

  • Real-world procedures to maximise the benefits of your SCR

COURSE OUTLINE — LEVEL 1: 3 DAYS

Training Includes:

  • Planning and conducting non-decompression dives using a single cylinder to 30 metres

  • Diving in environments similar to your training conditions

  • Completion of the XR Water Fitness Evaluation

  • A minimum of 1 hour of confined-water skill development

  • A minimum of 4 open-water training dives

  • At least 120 minutes of in-water runtime on the applicable SCR unit

Prerequisites

  • Nitrox Diver certification

  • Minimum 24 logged dives

Duration

  • Recommended hours for completion: 24-30.

Depth Limitations

  • Maximum depth limit for Open Water Training Dive 1 and 2: 12 metres.
  • Maximum depth limit for Open Water Training Dive 3: 20 metres.
  • Maximum depth limit for Open Water Training Dive 4: 30 metres.
  • At least one dive must be to a depth of 25 meters.

Requirements For Completion

  • Complete all academic sessions and assessments as outlined in the unit-specific instructor manual for SCR Extended Range.
  • Complete the program’s final exam.
  • Complete an equipment configuration session as outlined in the instructor manual for SCR Extended Range.
  • Complete the XR Water Fitness Evaluation 
  • Complete at least one confined water skill development session with a minimum cumulative time of at least one hour as outlined in the instructor manual for SCR Extended Range.
  • Complete at least four open water training dives as outlined in the instructor manual for SCR Extended Range.
  • Complete at least 300 minutes of in-water runtime on the applicable SCR unit.
